Credit Score Glossary: Credit Report

Credit Report: A report that contains confidential information about a consumer’s paying habits.

Things that are found in a credit report include:

  • Identifying information: Name, address, social security number, date of birth, employment information
  • Trade Lines: Each of your credit accounts – includes type of account, date opened, credit limit, account balance, and payment history
  • Credit Inquiries: A list of everyone who has accessed your credit report in the last two years
  • Public Record and Collection Items: Bankruptcies, foreclosures, suits, wage attachments, liens, and judgments, as well as information on overdue debt from collection agencies

The information found in a credit report is sold by credit agencies is sold to organizations considering whether or not to offer individuals credit.
