Suze Orman is a financial advisor, a New York Times bestselling author, and the host of her own TV show, The Suze Orman Show, on CNBC. The Chicago native has also hosted several PBS specials and has won two Emmy Awards for the program. In 2010, she was named in Forbes Magazine as one of the 100 most powerful women in the world.
After graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1976, she moved to Berkeley, Calif. and opened her own restaurant on money borrowed from friends. She later worked for Merrill Lynch and then Prudential. Upon her resignation from Prudential in 1987, she founded the Suze Orman Financial Group and remained as its director until 1997. She published her first book, You Earned It Don’t Lose It, in 1995.
